What is the Smalltown Boy AI dance trend?

Updated:

Short answer

It is a two-character dance trend, often made as an AI cat video: one dancer screams into the lens while the other dances behind, they swap places, then dance side by side and lunge at the camera. The AI cat version was posted on 2 October 2026, and MimicZip lets you make one from two photos.

Where it came from

The trend has two steps. A real-people duet by @mr_unvrs, dated 4 August 2026, set the beats. On 2 October 2026 @bellvtrix.ai posted an AI version with two cats on Instagram, and that is the version people copied.

View counts are left out: they differ between platforms and we could not verify them. The links are in the explainer on the template page.

The beats every version shares

  • One dancer rushes the lens and screams while the other dances behind.
  • A hard cut swaps the two.
  • Both dance side by side in front of a fence.
  • A low camera looks up at both of them.
  • They lunge at the camera and the clip ends.

Real dance or AI?

Both exist. People film real duets with a friend, and others use AI video tools to put cats, dogs or characters in the same beats. The AI cat clips are not real footage of cats dancing.

Our version is AI-made too. It generates new video from your two photos and uses no original footage.
