What is the Banana Tree Run trend?

Updated:

Short answer

Banana Tree Run is an AI video trend from October 2026. Someone sprints across the tops of banana plants, leaping from leaf to leaf while the leaves barely bend, filmed side-on like a kung-fu scene. An 11-second clip from Uganda made it go viral, and a CapCut template spread it.

Where it came from

A slower walking-on-banana-leaves AI clip by @daylikaj appeared in February 2026. The running version took off on 16 October 2026, when @big.e.ug posted an 11-second clip made with a CapCut template, at about 2.1 million views when we checked on 23 October 2026.

A French how-to video posted the same day reached about 855,000 views, and creators in Uganda, Nigeria and Mali joined with the same sound.

Why people copy it

  • It looks impossible: nobody can run on leaves, so the clip stops the scroll.
  • It needs one photo: your face goes on the runner.
  • It asks a question: captions like “who can do this” pull comments.

Questions people ask

Is the video real?

No. Every viral version is AI-generated. Banana leaves cannot hold a person, so please do not try it.

Where is the plantation?

The viral clip shows a hillside banana farm like those in Uganda. Our videos generate a similar, generic plantation.

How long is the clip?

About 11 seconds, which is also the length of our full video.
