The meme, explained

What is the Hit the Road Dude AI meme?

The Hit the Road Dude AI video is a TikTok meme remix where you play the grumpy pickup-truck driver from the viral “state property” fishing clip: you lean out of a white truck by a pond, scoff “State?”, and send the angler away with “Hit the road, dude.” It takes one photo and makes a 10-second clip.

The original clip was posted on TikTok by @bird28thegr8 on 21 August 2025. According to Know Your Meme it passed 13.7 million views in about three weeks. A lip-sync copy followed a few days later, and in October 2026 AI remixes put pets, game characters and new places into the truck. It is also called the State Property meme or Lock ’Em Up.

MimicZip makes your own version from one photo. A fixed template sets the pond, the white truck, the handheld phone shot and the four lines, so you never write a prompt. We do not recreate the man from the original clip, and the voices are new AI voices. The site is an independent tool, not affiliated with the original poster or any platform.

What happens in a Hit the Road Dude AI video

A 10-second video follows six beats in this order, in one handheld shot with no cuts. Timings are approximate, and the 5-second preview runs through the same beats faster.

  1. 01 · 0–1s

    The pond

A plain white pickup is stopped on a dirt track beside a calm pond, window rolled down. The camera is a phone held by an angler, a few metres away.

  2. 02 · 1–3s

“Who said you could fish here?”

The Driver leans toward the open window, frowning, and asks in a gruff voice.

  3. 03 · 3–5s

“I thought this was state property.”

An off-camera young man answers, a bit unsure. The camera stays on the Driver.

  4. 04 · 5–6s

    “State?”

The Driver pauses, squints in total disbelief and repeats the word.

  5. 05 · 6–8s

    “Hit the road, dude.”

One hand flicks toward the road, and the Driver says it firmly.

  6. 06 · 8–10s

    The stare

The Driver holds a stern, unimpressed stare at the camera while the engine idles.

Your photo decides who sits behind the wheel. The scene and the order of the lines are fixed, and every result comes out a little different. A pet driver sits upright with its paws on the steering wheel.

Hit the Road Dude AI video: frequently asked questions

What is the Hit the Road Dude meme?

A 2025 TikTok clip of an older man in a white pickup telling an angler off. When the angler says he thought it was state property, the man replies “State?” and “Hit the road, dude.” In October 2026 people began swapping themselves, pets and characters in with AI. The meme explainer has the background.

How do I make the Hit the Road Dude AI video?

Upload one clear photo, pick 9:16 or 16:9 and start. You get a 10-second 720p MP4 with the lines spoken in a few minutes. The how-to guide lists each step.

Is it free to try?

Yes. Each account gets 1 free 5-second 480p preview, once for life, and one free preview is given per network every 30 days. The full 10-second 720p video needs 35 credits, with packs from $4.90.

Can my cat or dog be the driver?

Yes. Upload a clear, front-facing pet photo. The pet sits upright in the driver’s seat with its paws on the wheel and talks. Grumpy cats are a popular version. See the pet page.

What does “hit the road, dude” mean?

It is a gruff way to say “get out of here”. In the clip the driver says it after the angler claims the pond is state property. The meaning guide covers the other names for the meme.

Is this the real man from the clip?

No. The video uses only your photo. We do not recreate the man from the original clip, and we ask you not to upload screenshots of him.

Does it use the original audio?

No. The four lines are spoken by new AI voices, and there is no music. You can add the original sound inside TikTok if you want it. The sound guide explains how.

What photo works best?

One person, pet or toy, face and shoulders in frame, good light and looking at the camera. Side faces, sunglasses and masks fail more often. The photo guide has the limits.

Can I post it on TikTok, and is there a watermark?

No watermark on the preview or the full video. Yes, you can post it: it is made for 9:16, and you should keep the platform’s AI-generated label on.

What if a video fails, and how long are my photos kept?

A failed generation returns its credits automatically, and unused packs can be refunded within 7 days; see the refund policy. Photos are stored privately and deleted automatically 14 days after upload. The privacy policy has the details.
