What are the Spooky Scary Skeletons dance moves?
Updated:
Short answer
The dance has four parts: a hop with a knee kick and a leg swing, a bouncy half-squat with stiff skeleton elbows pumped on the beat, shoulder shimmies and hip shakes, then stomping steps and one arm raised high. It lasts about 11 seconds, and MimicZip can do it for you from one photo.

The moves in order
- The kick: hop on one foot, kick the other knee up, then swing a leg out to the side.
- Skeleton elbows: drop into a wide half-squat, lift both elbows to shoulder height and pump your chest forward on every beat.
- Shimmy and shake: shimmy your shoulders and shake your hips left and right, hands sliding down your sides.
- The finish: stomp and sway, lift one knee across your body and throw one arm up high.
Tips if you film it yourself
Prop your phone low on the floor, step back until your whole body is in frame and keep the camera still. Most people learn it in a few tries by slowing the sound down.
Or skip the filming
If you would rather not dance on camera, MimicZip makes the same moves with your face, in a vampire cape. Try the generator with a free preview.
Questions people ask
Is the dance hard?
No. It is a short loop of a kick, the skeleton elbows and hip shakes. The fun is in doing it stiffly and with a straight face.
Does the AI video do exactly the same moves?
Close to it, in the same order and timing. AI motion is never a perfect copy, and each run is slightly different.
Why do people do it every October?
The song is a Halloween classic, so the dance comes back with it every year as a seasonal trend.
