Boyfriend Picks You Up not working? Fixes for common problems and a free redo
By MimicZip Team · Updated:
Short answer
A failed Boyfriend Picks You Up run is refunded automatically, but a finished clip is not redone for free, even if the face drifts or an outfit looks odd. Every pack includes bonus previews, so check your photo in one before you spend the credit on the full clip.
Returned and not returned
- Returned on its own: a run that stops with an error and gives no video.
- Not returned: a finished clip in which the face changes from your photo, the car shows a badge or a second person appears. It counts as an outcome, not a broken run.
- Trying again: a different photo or option takes 1 credit, and a 10-second try is one of the lower-cost runs here.
- An unopened pack: may go back for a refund within 7 days under the refund policy.
Before you run it again
Make sure the face is recognisable, there is only one person and nothing is written anywhere. The fix guides cover the common misses: the face changes between outfits (guide), the outfits or the car look odd (guide), and a third person or some text appears (guide). Previews per pack: 1 ($8.99), 3 ($16.99) and 5 ($25.99).
A refund request for an unused pack, inside 7 days, goes to support@mimiczip.com.
Boyfriend Picks You Up video: why does my face change between outfits, and how do I fix it?
The face drifts when the photo is dark, small or turned away, because the model redraws the head at every cut. Use a sharp, well-lit, front-facing photo, run a 5-second bonus preview, then make the full video.
Quick fixes
- Pick a photo where the eyes are open and the face is fully visible.
- Use even light, without a strong shadow across the face.
- Start with the old-money style and the autumn road before changing both.
- Keep hair, hats and scarves off the face in the photo.
Why it happens
There are five cuts in ten seconds, and each one asks the model to draw the same face again. A sharp photo gives it a clean face to repeat.
Boyfriend Picks You Up video: the outfits or the car look odd, what can I do?
A collar, a tie or the steering wheel can come out crooked, because five outfits and a moving car are a lot to draw. Start with the default sports car and the old-money style, keep the photo plain, and check a 5-second bonus preview before the full clip.
Quick fixes
- Use a whole-body photo with a clear outline.
- Start with the default sports car and the old-money style.
- Pick the autumn road first: the outfits show best in clear, even light.
- Run again rather than changing several options at once.
Why it happens
The model has to draw a car, a road and five sets of clothes, and it redraws them every frame. A second run often draws them cleaner.
Boyfriend Picks You Up video: a passenger or some text appears, how do I stop it?
There should be only you at the wheel, and nothing should be written anywhere. A passenger or a stray sign usually comes from a photo with someone beside you or a printed shirt. Use a photo of one person, plain clothes, and a 5-second bonus preview.
Quick fixes
- Crop out other people and pets.
- Avoid shirts with printed words or logos.
- Avoid photos with a poster, a sign or a screen behind you.
- Use a plain background.
Why it happens
The model sometimes turns a second face in the photo into a passenger, and printed words on a shirt can be redrawn as a sign. A clean photo of one person avoids both.
Questions people ask
Does an error cost me a credit?
No. A credit is held when the run begins and goes back to you if the run fails.
What is the best way to avoid a second payment?
Check a bonus preview first and tidy the photo: one subject, an open face, head and shoulders visible. Then use the credit for the full clip.
Is cash back possible?
Yes, but only for a pack with no used credits, within 7 days of the purchase. Credits that produced a clip are final.
Is a failed video charged?
No. Failed runs return their credit automatically. A finished clip that just looks off is a result, not a failure, so it is not refunded.
Will the same photo give the same result?
Not exactly. Every run differs a little, even with the same photo.
