What is the Pet Seal Filter AI trend?

Updated:

Short answer

It is a transformation clip: a pet photo sits still, a line of light sweeps across and the pet becomes a chubby seal that keeps its face and colours. It began as a CapCut template in June 2026 and came back in October with a second wave.

Example frame: a black-and-white border collie sitting on a beige carpet, half changed into a plump grey seal, with a thin bright white line of light running down the middle of the picture

Where it came from

The first wave started with a black puppy post on 11 June 2026 (about 262,000 views), and a bulldog post on 6 July 2026 reached about 1.8 million views. A newer version of the template and its sound followed in September, and the second wave began on 18 October with a black Labrador at about 399,600 views.

Why it works

  • One reveal: a still pet, a line, a seal.
  • It is about your own pet: owners recognise the colours and the sit.
  • It repeats well: the same filter works for every dog and cat.

Questions people ask

Is it a real filter?

On TikTok it is an editing template. Here the whole video is generated by AI from your photo.

Does it only work for dogs?

No. Cats work, and so do other furry pets with a clear face.

Does my pet really look like a seal?

The AI gives it a seal body and keeps its colours and markings, so it is a seal wearing your pet's look.
